Does anyone do "aller et retour" traverses in the US?

I never seen one in any guide books, so just asking.

Of course. They just aren't listed as such. Doing traverse laps is common but usually for training or competing with your friends.

Got it. But not graded as a longer version right? I guess there is no separate traverse grade in US.

Is this like traversing one way, and then going back the same way? Or just a one way traverse?

There and back. Like The Hobbit journey. Many places grade these separately. E.g. in Font, you see many traverses that have harder grade if you do them there and back.

Cld be a good way to get some new FA's... bunch of historic girdle traverses in New England could be linked like this.

In the original Smuggs guidebook, combining the low traverse and high traverse on the Workout wall are mentioned as a problem. The rating? "Very hard"
