Nearest area to SC where I could toprope?

I'm going to be in South Carolina for about 6 months, starting in January, and am looking for areas to climb. Ideally, I'd like to meet and climb with other people, but as a last resort, I'd like to start researching areas that I could toprope-solo at.

Routes with bolted anchors accessible from the top would be preferred, but I can make natural/gear anchors if needed. If you had any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

What part of South Carolina?

Sumter. Central SC, basically. I expect to travel for several hours in order to get anywhere.

North Carolina is probably your best bet for climbing. You are 3 hrs from most of the climbing.

Tocca Georgia is also about 3 hrs away and there is Currahee

Crowders Mountain outside Charlotte is definitely closest with the Asheville/Brevard area probably being your next best bet

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
