Got benighted on Madame G's at the Gunks - left about 8 pieces behind!

It sounds like you climb with an atypically benevolent and forgiving group of climbers. Gear abandoned is gear bootied. Consider it a loss and move on. |
|
Wonderful to watch this thread turn into a rockclimbing.com rehash - looking forward to finally getting an authoritative stamp on the use of benighted! |

Bob, Sounds to me like an interesting finish to the day. :-) May the person who finds your gear see it in his / her heart to get it back to you. |
|
dang. sounds like the makings of a not so good time. just wondering what happened with the follower. did you just overestimate their ability to get up this thing? or did they end up in the dark with no headlamp? seems like someone that couldnt follow this because its too hard is probably not going to be experienced enough to prussik a rope. i hope you get your gear back man, but it seems climbing madame gs might be a better deal than black friday at wally world. |

I hope you get your gear back and I'm glad you made decisions that got you and your partner down to the ground safely. Out of curiosity, did you and your partner back off the start of beginners delight prior to getting on Madame g's? |

"Benighted"?...Headlamps anyone? |
|
Benighted means- Out there getting some at dark while you weren't. Work out the details as you go.... |
|
Benighted means rapping down to booty gear at night. |
|
Best troll of the year! I pity the booty hound who goes up there and tries to climb the route right now with all this snow and freezing temps |

I would advise including a 12 pack of Saranac or some Ommegang to the one who returns the gear. It's amazing how beer in hand can be worth hundreds at times. In the meantime, if you need a cam or two till you can afford replacements I've got some extras to get you back in the game. You pay shipping both ways. Maybe limit their "field trip" to a few months. I remember climbing in the Gunks when I lived in Cooperstown. It was LEGIT. Take care. Good luck. PM if you wanna take me up on the gear offer. Get after it!!!!!!!! |

One dudes wife/climbing partner could not clean it at one time so he sat on station and hollered "can somebody clean my pitch!?" Oh boy he was pissed at her.... |
|
Bob I hope you get your gear back. The irony here is that you actually offer a reward outright and people have been scorned before on threads like this when none was. |

Exactly. |

I would have left the rope before 8 pieces of gear. |
