Ice and ice partners in Boise

I just learned for sure that I'm moving to Boise next month. In the lead up to this, I've heard rumors, exaggerations, and outright lies regarding Idaho ice, and I'm looking for partners on the weekends to go investigate.

Anybody have some beta they're willing to share (via pm, if necessary)?

Hi Brian, I have not yet climbed any of Idahos ice, but it does come in from what I am told. I'm down to try it out, hit me up sometime.

Hello,
Another forum message board for Idah is
Www. Idahosummits. Com
Personally I think there is plenty of ice to climb in Idaho.
You just need a few weeks of super cold to get there.
Also late May and June is when I do most of my ice climbing in Idaho.
Shoot me a email if Alpine is your cup of tea.

Perhaps a better question:
What's more worthwhile, trekking to the Tetons or Cody or Bozeman, or exploring near Boise during the depths of winter?

There isn't much that I know of within an hour of Boise. Some near Marsing, and Twin Falls. Otherwise you're headed for the mountains and a 2,3 or 4 hour drive. I'd be more than willing to explore it with you, but I don't lead ice yet, and haven't climbed it at all in a few years. The only stuff I've been on is what is near Marsing (within an hour of Boise), and a little in the Sawtooths. I think this is my year to get out a little more though.

If you're okay with traveling, I would stay in Idaho and explore the Sawtooths. Hundreds of ice and mixed climbs

I'm now in Boise, and definitely looking for partners. I have a roommate who climbed Jump Creek falls recently. I'll bet once the inversion breaks, that'll fall out of condition. Anybody been to the other flows around there?

I've been to Hidden Falls, and word is it was still leadable last Wednesday. I work this weekend, but could get out on a weekday next week if its cold.

I'm slowly working my way through the list on iceclimb.com, but as a resource, its pretty lousy. To whit: "Lowman--1 1/2 miles south of Lowman on Hwy 26 right side of Hwy. 60 ft WI 2-3.", Hwy 26 doesn't actually go through Lowman, and I wandered around everything *south* of Lowman for a couple of hours before I gave up and drove *east* of Lowman, and found the lines, which were, unfortunately, not at all in, and completely inaccessible across the river. I might bring an inflatable raft next time.
It will be an adventure improving that information, but I'm up for the challenge. That said, with the Twin Falls area (apparently) blowing up, is there anything approximating a guide published, maybe at a mountain shop in Twin Falls? I wanna make the trip, but I'd like to at least know how long the approach is.

Approach to Twin Falls ice is 5 minute walk up hill to the Motherload area.
I've been out of town, but I'd bet stuff is in but thin.
When do you want to meet me?
Kevin
