Hello, I am wondering what most people do for a holder for thee ice screws. Do you just throw them in a bag, or did you make some sort of contraption to carry them in to reduce contact between them. I know one thing Im not using the rubber net that comes with them as protection, that thing is way to hard to get back on. So any ideas on what to use or build?

Like trying to don a condom on a flaccid member lol.

Put the rubber cap on first before sliding the sleeve onto the screws, much easier.

The BD screwup protects and stores screws the best IMO.

I don't bother with any of those, just toss them into the pack along with everything else.

If you're concerned about them poking holes in stuff, wrap them in a toque or buff or something.

Black Diamond makes a thingie called ScrewUp. It's a bit of overkill for just three screws, but I think you'll expand that rack anyway and ScrewUp is a good investment.

If you insist on individual wrap, you can get Grivel's ESPRESSO or PAN PIPE.

If you save some money and have some building material laying around. You can always use the rubber insulation wrap. Don't seal the rubber opening, leave it open so it's easy for you to open and put the screw in.

Since your screws have no end caps (which are great little thing, you should buy some if possible), then I would wrap them in something at a minimum.

I always have at least 2 pairs of gloves in my pack. I have found that the inside of each glove holds 3 screws nicely. 12 screws are my normal rack. Unless you have a bunch of long screws try using your extra gloves next time.

I have a bunch of screw caps. You can buy extras from BD's site or other places.

You can get one or two of these: Spiroll Rope Protector and cut it up to fit the screws - easier to get on and off than the net thingies.

Or you can get some kind of cheap tool organizer bag like this: Dickies Small Wrench Organizer

Leatheresque shower/bath caddy from walmart $3-7.

If you really want to baby your screws, as you put them in stack a handtowel in between them folded.

You Canadians and your slang! Haha..

To the OP: Go down to the local hardware store if you're looking for a cheap way to protect the teeth of your screws. You'll find something. Or like Ray said, order some caps from Black Diamond.

I use the black diamond toolbox.. should fit around 8-10 screws in each.
