Does anyone know which resorts (preferably in big and little) are open for uphill traffic right now?

I know brighton is. Alta shut theres down a day or two ago and I'm pretty sure the bird did as well? Not 100% sure on the bird though.

It is my understanding that all resorts in LCC and BCC are closed to uphill traffic right now.

The Catherine's pass area of alta is open. Skin up the summer road to access as that is technically fs land throughout the entire year and isn't leased by alta.

I was thinking the same thing. You can also skin up from the club hut at Brighton to Catherine's, at least if you're staying there. Would think anyone else could do the same.

Huh? Well, according to Strava there appears to be at least a handful of lycra-clad skimo players that have been running laps at brighton all week, even as current as this mornin'...

The notice that all 4 Cottonwood resorts were closed to uphill traffic came from the Utah Avalanche Center. It is up to the individual resorts as to if and how they want to police and enforce the closure.

Brighton has always been uphill friendly compared to the other resorts. They allow it all year round, including now. Have at it. Plenty of crappy snow to ski. Just stay out of people's way skiing down and it their protocol should stay that way.

I was up at brighton today and there was quite a bit of up hill traffic.

Just for clarity. The resorts typically close their areas to all up hill traffic approximately one week before they open. They do that for operational safety when they are moving lots of equipment and snow around and do not want to deal with anyone on the hill. After they open they generally tolerate uphill traffic when they are closed.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
