In this survey, we are looking for participants that climb a minimum of six times outdoors a year.

Please take the survey at the following link:

Curious,
Who is collecting this data?
Why is the data being collected?
What will be done with this data?

Then maybe, I'll take this seriously.

I'll take it seriously when they learn the peregrines don't 'nurse'

edit: my bad. upon further review 'nurse' as a vb means more then my original thought. dang.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!

Usually, you can't get folks to shut up enough on MP.

NOW that someone actually WANTS our input? Fear! Suspicion! Paranoia!!!

You guys kill me...

I think it's a fair question considering the account was just registered today. I would also like to know who wants my info and why before filling anything out.

It's not a matter of a "fear the government" mentality. It's a matter of someone disclosing who they are and what they are using the data for. It's the same questions I'd ask if someone walked up to me on the street and asked me to answer survey questions.

It's your choice if you don't want to disclose anything, just like it's our choice if we don't want to answer it.

There's a difference between curiosity and paranoia in my opinion tho. It seems that most the people on here are genuinely concerned about who is collecting this information, which I interpret as paranoia. Someone who is concerned would just want to know that information just cause they are curious. They also would not get defensive....just my opinion though. What do I know, I'm just another username behind a keyboard

The title of this thread has little to do with the survey questions. It has more to do with your own observations at the crag rather than expectations or beliefs. Weird

Once correction: the correlation between "experienced" and "guide" is tenuous at best.

Which guarantees what? He could respond and completely lie, or be completely honest. Either way, response or not, you cant be certain what he wants to do with the info.

This is comical. These damn anti access people are everywhere.

I am going to guess this is him:

facebook.com/chad.mullins.7…

His name and city match, and it indicates he is a rock climber. If that is him, and his profile is correct, then he works for "Rock Dimensions Inc." which appears to be a guiding service. Before that, U.S. National Whitewater Center. It also says he studies at Appalachian State, which could explain the research project.

Hello,

I am a Recreation Management student at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. For a class project myself and a group of climbers are complying data on climbing ethics. Hopefully with your help this survey can improve access along with informing others about climbing impact and preservation.

Thank you,

Chad

Too many questions! One rule and one rule only : don't be a douche!
The rest of it let the nature take it's course and say no to clif and Luna bars alike. Peace!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
