No, this is not a new Petzl tool.

As far as I can tell, this is just a personal design project for some guy's design portfolio that has nothing to do with Petzl in any official capacity whatsoever. Just some guy making some renderings and designing it in the style of Petzl's existing line up. In general, companies like petzl would not release this kind of super early stage concept to the public.

The design also looks incredibly impractical. It looks like it would be difficult to make it stiff enough when extended to actually use, as well as dangerous having so many moving parts and potential failure points. The tolerances required for locking this in both modes would have to be very, very slim, which would be difficult to make robust enough for use where someone's life is on the line. Plus, the additional weight required to get this all to work would almost certainly be more than a pair of far more practical trekking poles. This is what happens when you have design, but no engineering.

How can he get away with using Petzl's name? Thats fine using the likeness of the orange and black scheme but to actually use their name and font type. How long do you give it until they make him take it down? On the right side of his page he even states this was a 2 week project of his, no mention of Petzl

Probably a student project. Something tells me that if this gets Petzl's attention, a cease and desist letter will follow. But I don't really have any authority as to how design and branding and whatnot work, so someone who does feel free to correct me.
