Hey Ya'll. Coming up in a few weeks to TR. Hearing from various shops around the perimeter, 90 foot seems to be the best location to TR without having to lead climbing to set up. Wondering if there are any other locations near South Lake Tahoe that have non-lead climbing set ups as well. We have only been climbing for a few months thus far and want to stay between 5.4-5.10a/b TR. Unknown of locations! Anything helps!

Do you have any of the area guidebooks? Those should point you in the right direction.

Hi Frank, no I have only been researching online and just began calling around. Been getting the run around on a few places, everyone seems to have different answers, so I figured whom better than those that climb these locations to ask!! =)

Some people are reluctant, or too cheap/broke, to buy guidebooks (not talking about you), but they are an invaluable resource.

Here is a good one to get started with for South Lake Tahoe, which includes 90-Foot Wall:

I think there are a couple out there for North Lake Tahoe/Donner, also.

90 ft wall is by far your best bet. Smoke Rock is right next door - less routes but very convenient access to the top.

You could also check out Berkeley Camp - might be chilly. Only a couple climbs below 5.10, but the harder ones are fun to try on TR.

if it snows or too cold in the basin, check out west buttress at sugarloaf. slab climbs, but plenty to top rope. less chance of crowds too.

North Lake Tahoe area, Twin Crags. You can hike around to the top of the entire wall and set up a TR. Good anchors up top, either bolts or trees.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
