Hi everyone, I'm an avid climber who has moved to Kearney, Nebraska to take a job at the University here. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of or seen and climbing/bouldering areas in northern Kansas that I would be able to make day trips out of. I'm just looking for something, anything really. I don't care if I have to establish the whole place, I just need some real rock to touch without having to drive 5 hours to Colorado. Thanks!
Sorry man, I grew up 30 minutes from there and am pretty certain there's nothing worth driving to in the area. I'd drive the 5 hours to Colorado.

I was stationed at ft riley kansas in the 80's. I remember copperas cove having some short cliffs. This was before i started climbing, so i dont know if its worthy and it may be all private land but may be worth checking out.
We live in Kearney also. Boulder is about 6 hours, Vedawou 5, Lander 9, Tetons and well pretty much all of Colorado, Wyoming and part of Utah in 12 hours. There is a lot of great climbing you can get to in a day.

Point of Rocks near Concordia KS and Mushroom Rocks State Park SW of Salina. Both offer so-so bouldering, but hey it's something.
