For some reason he was a very memorable pitcher despite not making many appearances, possibly because he did win his first Major League start getting the victory over the Dodgers, which is a pretty cool feat, for a team that finished first in the division in 2004.
So, I was saddened and surprised to hear his name in the news again after taking a ground fall yesterday at Enchanted Rock.
I don't know the place and the details are very limited, but condolences to his friends and family. I'm sure he'll be missed by many after a career that spanned the nation as well as the community of climbers in general. RIP.
USA Today describes the accident as taking place on private land in that area.....and further suggests that he may have taken his own life. A county sheriff's office is investigating, according to the article.
