Will flying camera drones one day replace GoPro's and selfie sticks? The winners of the Intel Make It Wearable challenge created a flying wristband camera drone targeting climbers: Link
What do you think?

Seems pretty interesting. Although, little quadcopter's flying all around sounds like it could be annoying. I do think it's pretty cool to see how far technology is coming along!

I also think that this would be pretty cool for filming climbs. No need for a film crew, unless you want quality better than a GoPro!

The idea is really cool!
I dabbled at flying quads just a bit, here are my observations-
- flight stability for a small quad like this is going to be a big issue. Any wind gusts will shake it up quite a bit
- balancing props is an art and a requirement for good video. Curious how that is going to work with a foldable drone.
- almost any video worth seeing is being filmed using gimbaled camera, this doesn't have it. Expect lots of rolls, drift, etc. Some of these issues might be able to fix with good programming.
- battery life is going to be a big issue, but might improve with the latest and greatest LiPo packs with nano-tech electrodes. Parrot 2, out of the box, has roughly 8 minutes of flight time.

Oh, it is illegal to fly drones in some places, make sure to check local ordinances.

Drones, Go-Pros, selfies, bluetooth speakers...it seem like a lot of things that are being produced these days are to make your experience other peoples experience too. I do things for myself..guess I'm selfish.

It's a pain in the butt to manage the gopro and worry about getting it edited and uploaded! I bought one and rarely bust it out lol! The moments and memories are for me!

Flying camera drone is really amazing for weeding ceremony and shooting for high quality films. In this camera you will find best quality as compare to GOP and we can easily controlled by using digital control remote. What do you think about this flying drone camera?

Gibberish.

I bought a Skidio 2 drone.  Realized I just want to climb and not spend the day trying to take videos and sold it.  It is also requires a lot of time afterwards to watch the video and edit it into something short.  How many people have watched the videos of the fireworks they took?

Damn things are obnoxious.  Don't bring them to climbing areas.

It is amazing how much drone tech changed over the 7 years. Top line drones  will follow moving objects, flight times are over 45min.

Thread necromancy is literally my favorite thing about this forum. Haha!

What’s your stance on paraphrasing that maintains only marginal fidelity to the original?

Death to all drones!!!! Nothing is as effective at running a peaceful nature experience as a drone. I’d take the fighting couple, the barking dogs, and the gym bro sound system over a drone.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
