What are the best Winter climbing walls that face the sun? I am here for work every month and am looking for sunning bouldering and one-pitch climbs for afternoon rock fun. You can join me if you want this week. Thanks!
They're probably multiple older posts with more thorough answers then what I can give ya, but off the top of my head, the best single pitch walls that see good winter sun are:
BCC S-curves - I've climbed the upper and lower s-curves all winter long, they're about the best you could hope for.
Aguaworld has the right sun aspect, The Aquaduct Area might, I've never been.
Storm Mountain picnic area - has quite a few routes that I have climbed in the dead of winter including Bumblebee wall and Dam Wall.
LCC
Much of LCC can be climbed in the winter, though that canyon is not the first place that comes to mind when I think of single-pitch stuff. I've climbed personally on Schoolroom quite a bit and The Egg, but I bet that Dragon arch, Black Peeler and Bong Eater could be nice.
Rock Canyon
Layer Cake and the Jobsite warm up enough that I've climbed both of them quite a bit in the winter. I've never been there in the winter but Bug Barn Dance wall might get the needed sun. Also, though it doesn't have the best sun-aspect for winter climbing, I wasn't too cold at The Appendage.
American Fork I have no advice for AF canyon because I've only climbed there once and that was in the summer. Someone else will have to pipe in on that one
If you want Mike, I'm always down to climb, I'm always available in the daytime (I work graves) and would be glad to show you around. PM me if you ever wanna go out.
