Most of you are effing ridiculous with your self-righteous mob justice mentality decreeing "throw the girl in prison". Does a 21 year old girl that didn't commit a violent crime really deserve jail time? NO. Get off your shocked high horse and get some perspective. And it'll also be tragic when the NPS charges her as a felon for defacing a park and then the next day build another parking lot.

If she did it once maybe jail time would be excessive but she's such a repeat offender who knows very well it's highly illegal. She even jokes about it. And like some one suggested to consider. If a friend of mine did this what would I do?... shake my head and think they deserve what's coming. She's a complete idiot which has nothing to do with being female. Just brainless, selfish and inconsiderate.

Furthermore, building parking lots is completely beside the point. That goes through permitting processes, environmental impact analysis, is done for public use and ultimately is not illegal.

That's the one part of your post I disagree with. I would expect that my friends and family wouldn't be such incredible repeat assholes. I'd be shocked if they were, and if they did the same thing Casey-the-Nozzle Nocket did, I'd react the same and expect them to scrub off every micron of paint on their own dime plus pay a nice hefty fine.

There are always consequences for our actions... she'll get what is coming to her. Its hard to know what the actual and lasting consequences will be for the decisions we make (good or bad). I'm sure she has a fair amount of suffering ahead... hopefully she will walk away intact and with some wisdom. I'm sure the rock will be (relativeley) fine- it seems a lot of people would be willing to undue her messes- myself included.

I really do despise vandalism and especially nature "art". Hopefully she makes it out of her self-created mess okay... the fact that she has behaved this way hints at some troubling imbalances. Everybody has a back-story. I'm sure all of us (some many decades) ahead of her in age can agree we made some incredibly stupid decisions in our early adult years. May she pay for her mistakes and no more!

Well mate its her idea of art ,its not to my taste, but I would not get my knickers in a twist like some of you chaps . I would just clean it off my house,not fine her or have her sent to prison (only in America !). If it is acrylic it should be quite easy to remove. I'm not a big fan of mass incarceration, or of much of the law or legal system.
But you know, reading the quote above, I'm pretty sure that Einstein wasn't saying that in reflection of a person who took a crap on the front porches of his neighborhood, bragged about it, and then defended the action.
I think the perp in this case should spend as many months traveling (or staying in one place, I don't care) to clean up stuff (like trash and graffiti) as she spent traveling to F%#$ it up. If she won't (refuses to), then that is what jail is for, the alternative sentence, to separate the folks who can't play nice with others from the others.

And what if it costs you 3K to have the house repainted? You must be a millionaire or have no respect for your own property. If I caught someone vandalizing my house, they'd be held at gunpoint until the police arrived. And then I'd also sue them in civil court just to really screw them over financially. You comment really has no logic to it. Comparing Native American art to a graffiti tagger is sophomoric at best.

She is an ignorant lawbreaker who deserves the appropriate punishment via due process.

It's a shame that the hypersensitive grievance zeitgeist is so prevalent here. Why doesn't everybody just shut up, and turn off your smart phones for a couple days?

This makes me super angry.

That said, I'd like her to see a healthy fine, and a fat helping of community service, specifically cleaning graffiti in all the parks she violated.

Some graffiti taggers screws with my property and I catch them, they may try to walk, but I've got legs, too, and a car to follow them with. And a phone to call the cops with, too. And, yes, I will confront someone like that on my property with a gun. You sound like a pansy who'd look the other way. I guess you don't really have enough stuff to really give a shit about.

Make her clean her shit up and fine her into oblivion, damage to the wallet is the only thing people really understand. I'm not too hot on paying for her stay in jail though; she isn't exactly threatening to the point of being removed from society...

My thoughts are very coherent. Fuck with my stuff and you pay a price. Pretty simple actually.
