At first, Blair seems like a giant jigsaw puzzle; however, it becomes more understandable if it is simply separated into two parts, Lower Blair and Upper Blair. Then the component formations of each can be easily designated.
BLAIR OVERVIEW:<br> <br> A nearly 3D view of the Blair Area as seen from above. An arbitrary (yellow) line has been drawn to indicate how Upper Blair actually sits significantly higher than Lower Blair, making it quite easy to separate the two for identification purposes as well as their inclusive formations. Each (ie both 'Upper' and 'Lower' Blairs) will be treated separately at higher magnification with more detail on their respective pages.<br> <br> Abbreviations:<br> <br> Upper Blair: EC=East Corner, H=The Heap, JT=John's Tower, LJT=Little John's Tower, NC=North Corner, SC=South Corner, SMB=Spectreman Buttress, WC=West Corner.<br> <br> Lower Blair: B1=Blair 1, B1a=Blair 1 Annex, B2=Blair 2, B3=Blair 3, GR=Goldirocks, LB=Little Blair.<br> <br> #707=USFS Road 707.
Topo info and abbreviations:<br> <br> Two main trails exist in Upper Blair (all trails in light green). One that is more commonly used nowadays (#1) basically bisects the area and can be used to access all the formations. There is another main trail leading into the area from the 8 Ball (#2). Each of these trails spur off into many smaller trails that lead to specific formations and/or climbs.<br> <br> *NOTE: There is a direct trail turned ATV raceway that leads from the 8 Ball around the east side of the HEAP, allowing quicker access to Spectreman Buttress which is not shown.<br> <br> Formations are indicated in red and climbs are in yellow. The FORMATIONS are: EC = East Corner, H = The Heap, JT = John's Tower, LJT =Little John's Tower, MC = Middle Corner, NC = North Corner, SC = South Corner, SMB = Spectreman Buttress, WC = West Corner.<br> <br> The climbs are: bh = Big House, bs = It's Bloody Solid, bt = Baobab Tree, dd = Down in Dixie Land, ei = Easter Island, fg = What the French Girl Said, sm = Spectreman, sr = Slab Route, ss = SS Maywood, ta = Tips and Asps, uv = Ultraviolets, wp = West Corner Pump Station.
