Redirect caused by ads?

I got a redirect from one of the ads. Unfortunately, I've turned off history recording on my browser, so I can't really say what it was to. All I know was that I clicked on a picture in the slideshow, it loaded, I switched to a different tab and when I returned, I had a webpage telling me that my version of java was out of date. I clicked back and I was back at mountainproject. Anybody seen this with better documentation than what I've got?

If it happens again, and you can tell me the URL you land on when clicking it, I can get it blocked.

Thanks.

Happened here too when I hit submit for a post. Went right right to fake java update with .ed or something. I'll note the url if it happens again.

me too and in my experience that could be a REALLY BAD page to click anything on, similar to porn sites. not that I would know of course, not my bag.

It just happened to me when I clicked on:
mountainproject.com/v/adver…
I was taken to:
quick-computer-repairs.be/f…

Yeah I got redirected to a fake Java update page. If anyone clicks on the link thinking it is a legit Java update I'm sure there is some malware or virus that will be downloaded.

A couple times the last few weeks I've gotten re-directs to install "updated flash player." It's most certainly not Adobe. The last time it was actually a forum post.

Nick, you may have already figured this out, but one of the ads at the top right (Served by google adwords it looks like) is serving up a flash applet, that is probably doing something evil. If get it every 5 reloads or so. I have flash disabled so I just see a broken link, but something funny is going on there.

Well that explains the Malware on my CU! Clicked on the update. The usual ads were blank telling me i needed to update my Java shit. Last thing i thought was Malware.

I always thought i would get a virus from a porn site not Mountain Project. F**K ME!!!!!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
