I lent my rack to two friends from New Mexico who joined a large Arizona party at Pistol Whipped and Selfish Wall on 10/25 and 26. When my rack came back to me I was missing the following:

#3 second generation Camalot with kinked trigger cables
#3 Forged Friend (black stem, red lobes)
#3.5 Forged Friend (black stem, silver lobes)

If anyone knows where this gear ended up, please PM me, or call:
5zero5 3six3 six0eight0

In advance, thanks much!
Mark

If they were good friends in the first place they would have already bought you new gear.

This. There is no reason you should be posting about this. They should have already bought you new gear, and they should be the ones posting.

Interesting. What did your "friends" say about the missing gear? Did you notice it as soon as they gave you the rack back? Do they know the cams are missing?

I can be a good friend. How about 'loaning' me some gear.

Tracked down gear. Migrated to someone else's rack (not my friend's rack)...And no, I did not notice missing cams until a week later when packing for my own trip to the Creek.

I'm glad you tracked it down... but Sure was nice of your friend to tell you! It is difficult to notice the absense of something.

I was at the Creek the same weekend. My climbing partner borrowed gear from two of her other climbing partners, and she kept meticulous inventory of the gear at all times: Keeping inventory before the trip and at the end of the day, and (at the risk of seeming micromanaging), asking anyone who used/helped carry the gear back to return it before turning in for the night- to avoid separating parties and forgotten gear.

All the gear was accounted for and returned. At the end of our trip we went bought the loaners souveniers from Pagan Mountaineering as a small token of appreciation for entrusting us with their gear.

That's the way it should be!

Loaning gear for the Creek is what friends do. Don't regret it and don't blame your buddies. When you've got 80 cams, 60 of which are not yours, you can't remember what they all look like and what belongs to who.

Make a detailed list of the gear you are loaning (cams look alike, yours should be unique). Verify the list with your buddies and put a copy in the box with the gear you give to them. They are now responsible for returning every piece on the list, and have a handy reference when separating the racks.

Same goes when you borrow gear for your trip. If the owner doesn't give you a list, make one before you go.

John, I've lent my rack out for the Creek many times. I was just trying to locate the missing gear, and now that I have, all is fine. Rumor had it that the cams ended up in Arizona, so the MP post as I know none of those people.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
