I recently did some work in pinewood springs, between Estes and Lyons on 36. Every day I was greeted with some awesome red cliffs that looked like they had hundreds of routes. I cant find anything on MP and Google earth isn't much of a help. Does anyone know much about that area and why is hasn't been climbed? Or am I just looking at the wrong area?

Red sandstone? See Steamboat Mountain under Lyons on MP. I did a route there in '77. I recall that Jeff Lowe and Mark Wilford did some routes there (early '80s?). I've also climbed sandstone along the nearby Old Apple Valley Rd.

That's the place. And "Poor Man's Wingate" that you put up is the dihedral I wanted to do, and its within my ability! Thanks. Now I'll see if I can find a guide book, or I have years of work ahead of me. Is that a '77 5.9 or a 2000's 5.9?

Old-school 9. It's not in a guidebook. Gillett's guide to St Vrain Canyons is an excellent guide to the region's granite.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
