So, she did not make it in LA street art scene like she though she would. Give the girl a break! If you see her in the Valley with a box of crayons send her over to the ocean cliffs so her doodling can be washed away by the next high tide. But hey, it could be worse. She could be writing unwanted beta at the base of the crags...

Vandalism reported in 10 national parks of the West
Incidents illustrated on social media

WASHINGTON: The National Park Service is investigating reports of vandalism in at least 10 national parks in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, and Utah.

While we can’t discuss details of a case under investigation, we take the issue of vandalism seriously. National parks exist to preserve and protect our nation’s natural, cultural and historic heritage for both current and future generations. Vandalism is not only a violation of the law but it also damages and sometimes destroys often irreplaceable treasures that belong to all Americans.

There are forums for artistic expression in national parks because national parks inspire artistic creativity. These images are outside that forum and outside the law.

Parks affected (awaiting confirmation): Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona; Yosemite National Park, California; Death Valley National Park, California; Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, California; Joshua Tree National Park, California; Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado; Crater Lake National Park, Oregon; Bryce National Park, Utah; Zion National Park, Utah; and Canyonlands National Park, Utah.

This girl isn't alone in her opinion of graffiti. Here is what is called Rainbow Falls, a once quite beautiful area underneath a bridge in Manitou Springs, CO.

As you can see, just about every inch of rock along the creek has been painted, along with the bridge itself. Photographers then have come to capture this shit-pile's ambiance and even sell prints of it. It's pretty baffling. But there is just something about aesthetics that you can't necessarily teach to people. You either understand it or you don't.

That is just plain sad...and I stand by my thoughts of hoping some harm comes to these types. Really, is the world a better place with these scummy destroyers of natural beauty? The photo is very depressing.

No, it is sexism.
First, you say she should be tortured.
Then you call her a "self-centered bitch."
Then, you say she should be killed.
Mind you, this is in the first post.

After that, you call her a "stupid bitch," while sexualizing her after a brief bit of internet stalking through her photo archives.

Then, some self-righteous pontification, about how you are oh-so-notsexist: "As you mentioned, if was a guy, I'd call him out as a dickless wonder and a bastard. Thanks for understanding where I am coming from."
Which, may I add, you manage to explicitly gender... by equating any man who would do this with "dickless wonder," aka feminine.

Please. Someone explain to me how this is NOT sexism or misogyny.

Damn climbers have a lot of nerve!......LOOK at what you do to the rock for your enjoyment. At least her expression will wash away soon. The bolts, chalk, tat, shit piss, trash, tuna cans, toilet paper on the captain are pretty hillarious(hypocrytical) expressions if you ask me. Not as impressed with the art as much as the actual act of defacing or "refacing" nature.

Yep. Right there with these two. Just because you don't understand sexism/misogyny, doesn't mean you aren't propagating it.

I don't agree with what she did, but gendered attacks and wishing her death are totally uncalled for.

If it was a guy and someone used the expression 'stupid bastard' would it be called misandrist and sexist? Lovestead's post I took as irony (not actually the correct word, but I can't think of it atm)
How many dudes would be comfortable with being called a stupid scrotum?

Simple yea/nay poll is fine.

Nay for me just because it's a lame insult and sounds fruity.

I liked this one better.

She is using paint markers, not chalk. They will not wash away soon unless someone puts some serious effort into it.

Most of the climber damage you cite will be gone long before the paint would be (by natural decomposition)-shit, piss, toilet paper, chalk...

As for the sexism comments above, thats a pretty big discussion for this venue, or we can make every thread on mountain project a discussion about the rampant misuse and inherent prejudices of common vernacular (see: "it sounds fruity" below for a first example), but that wouldn't get much ranting about an attention seeking young woman with poor critical thinking skills accomplished.

Also: saying SHE should be tortured/killed isn't sexist in and of itself, its just using the appropriate pronoun in this case, though it is a thoroughly disturbed proposition, otherwise i mostly agree with the fine dr.'s point regarding sexism (intentional or unintentional) on the proj.

I'm always amazed by people who refuse to see any difference between chalk, acrylic paint, and litter.

And note that there are places where chalk is either banned or heavily discouraged.

As someone who actually spends time scrubbing graffiti out of parks, I hope she is fined to the max.

Although the notorious Casey Nocket has removed her Instagram account, she is replying to haters on her Tumblr account.

Some choice quotes from Casey to her critics:

"IT’S ART NOT VANDALISM

I AM AN ARTIST"

"if banksy did it u’d have a hardon"

To me, the real issue is that she doesn't seem to understand why people are upset.

It's the art....how do you put it...just sucks! A cracked addict in my hood can do better chalk art than that!
