I remember rapping that "1st" pitch and getting a nasty core shot pulling the ropes on the way down. When my partner came down the sheath got bunched up in her ATC, leaving nothing but the core strands! She let out a yell but reattached the device below the damaged section, gingerly rapping the last ~50 feet. |

The other three deaths this year were drownings and base jumping...I think 2009 was the last fatal climbing accident where a climber was jugging a haul line on Touchstone which was fixed though a ProTraxion on p3 or 4... |

And one of those other 4 deaths in the past 30 years was a boy scout going off the top of Angel's Landing around 10 years ago. |
