Looking for a mountaineering partner to climb Cayambe 18,997 feet/5790 meters; Cotopaxi 19,348 feet/5897 meters and Chimborazo 20703 feet/6310 meters the last two weeks of November. Most of these are same day summits from huts.

I will be taking a bus in from Columbia then heading to Peru/Bolivia/Chile/Argentina after Equador through the end of February. Unfortunately I will hit the wet season in Peru/Bolivia and will not be able to climb much there.

If there's any interest please let me know. My background in glacier travel is adequate for these peaks. (Rainier - Liberty Ridge, Pico de Orizaba). I also volunteer teach a high altitude mountaineering school in Denver, Colorado, USA.

Cheers,
Lee

Have you found an affordable guide for Ecuador? I was kicking around a trip to the area and it sounds like a guide is definitely required and the law is enforced. Tough to find cheap guided climbs though and most bundle in rest days and charge you for them. I've been thinking about just emailing guides from the UIAGM Ecuador list to inquire. Not sure if I can swing it financially this year though.

I did a similar trip to Ecuador two years ago. Yes a guide is mandatory and enforced. Check out Gulliver Expeditions for a guide. My group used them and we pretty much got to pick our itinerary and they were good to work with. They are based in Quito in the Mariscal area. Although, just checking out their prices today, it does appear their prices went up from what I paid. Best of luck. It is a great place to visit.

Its not that hard to get on Cotopaxi sans guide but chimborazo rangers were much more strict and gave us a hard time back in 2012.

Hey, I am currently in Guatemala and am looking to climb some mountains when I am finished with my Spanish school. My dates are REALLY flexible. I climbed Liberty Bell, and Baker this past year, so I have some mountaineering experience but would want to brush up a bit if you have some patience. Let me know if you find out how to climb without a guide! Or if you want to come explore any parts of Guatemala

Feel free to email me at lizzyvanpatten@yahoo.com

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
