I'm headed over to OR (based in Bend) for six weeks this winter and was wondering if it's worth packing the rack and heading to Smith Rock or the like for a bit? I'm over to snowboard but would love to climb a few routes too.
One thing I'm not sure of is the weather has a huge impact? Some sites say climbing is horrible in winter, some say merely to pack a jacket. Whats your honest opinion? Just keep an eye for finer weathered days?
You can climb all year round at Smith. Just be prepared to be cold, or wait for sunny days and climb in the sun. Lots of routes that you can climb in the rain as well.
