I just saw a lemur in eldo

I saw a ringtail on the Bastille last year sometime. Their eyes reflect headlamp light pretty well. it was scampering around the top of March of Dimes buttress. I first thought of a lemur too. Figured out it was a ringtail after research. Long tail with rings is a giveaway. Pretty cool animal.

I've been called a lot of things, but striped and fluffy are not among them.

I saw one of these late last night behind the third flatiron! It looked pretty awesome and was definitely curious as to what we were, kind of sneaking around trying to get a view of us without us blinding it with our headlamps.

ditto that on the lemur bits. i spotted one too, the night of sunday, september 7th, in eldo, at the redgarden wall area as we left the green spur buttress. our headlamp lights were reflecting off its eyes like crazy and i was thinking holy man, that's either a lemur, or one emaciated raccoon! i didn't even know ringtail cats were indigenous to this area/the high desert. speaking of which, since i've now moved out here, what do we call the clear creek canyon/eldorado canyon/flat irons/boulder canyon/front range biome?

and James Beissel, i'm going to record my sighting on your project link right meow! inaturalist.org/projects/color…

how. cool. is. that.

pretty neat i say. pretty. freaking. neat.

I saw 3 more running together in a line as if they were a furry ringed snake over the weekend in the South Platte near the South Platte Hotel.  My headlamp inadvertently blinded them as they scurried leaving one behind.  He started chirping loudly and soon the other two double backed, touched noses with the straggler, then ran off as a furry snake again.  Extremely cute behavior.  They seemed highly intelligent and obviously compassionate for each other.  It was a very exciting sight to see!

I saw one of these in Devil's head a few weeks back! I was rappelling off a multi-pitch in the dark and saw his eyes peering out from a den along the rocks. I saw the same pattern tail and thought it was a raccoon.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
