Not sure if anyone on here has tried this, but it's awesome. Probably not a necessity for rockclimbing, but it is amazing for backpacking! They make 2 types of beer and it's really easy to make while camping.

Instant carbonated beer!

dehydrated beer??? Somehow Gatoritas sound more appetizing.

I've seen this before but thanks for the feedback. Nice to know it actually works and will be flexible enough to replace my regular nalgene bottle.

It's not dehydrated. They brew it using just a little water, so it's in a packet like GU or a Cliff Shot and about the same constancy. When you mix it with water and then carbonate it, it comes out to a normal craft beer.

I'm a fan. I bought one of these with some spare cash last year in Ouray. Makes a nice Pale Ale. I was surprised at the quality. Pretty good stuff. Not dehydrated. Concentrate.

Recently, Pat's posted on facebook where someone took the packet and joined it with sparkling mineral water directly instead of using the co2 shaker. Looked good, but I haven't tried that.

Seems contrived. A flask of Scotch weighs less and gets you drunker.

Very, very occasionally, drunkenness efficiency is not the primary objective of a beverage.

Haha, Tico, drunkennes efficiency is very rarely a deciding factor for my choice of a beverage, but in the backcountry I go for the highest alcohol/calorie content per gram ratio.

+1 made me laugh I can appreciate the gentleman's point of view, and his priorities.

I'm usually not trying to get drunk. If rather wake up fresh and get after it than just get hammered and sleep in. To me it's about drinking a nice beer after a long day, then waking up and getting after some more rad stuff.

Still seems contrived. Opiates weigh less and get you way more messed up.

^^^ Yeah, but do they make you feel warm? I know I know, alcohol vasoconstricts and makes you cold, but still that warm feeling down the chest and in the stomach...

So it's like a GU or CLIF shot? Why even bother with the water. Just use it like an energy gel.

Not necessary?! The 6 pack or box of Bandit is just as important as the rope or shoes! How else will everyone know how awesome you are when your wondering around the crag spraying beta? But seriously drink beer while climbing it prevents tendinitis guaranteed!

My gf and I climbed snake dike the other day on half dome. Pretty much everyone I know runs out of water on the route. We brought up a pats and planned to drink it if we had enough water at the summit. When we topped out we still had 2 litters left so we decided to make a summit beer. It was so awesome drinking a beer watching the sunset at the top.

Summit beer on half dome

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
