New Speed Record on The Naked Edge

Jason and I had another go at it last night and went bridge-to-bridge in 26m33s. About 6 minites of red lining it to the base of P1, just under 15 minutes for the route, and 6 more to scramble/run back down to the middle of the bridge. Dang, that is so much fun!!

You should drag me up The Naked Edge. It will be a bit longer than 30 minutes though.

Whats the record climbing it naked?

Blazing. Cheers gentlemen, amazing!

What amazes me most is getting from the topout back to the bridge in 6 minutes.

Oh yeah! I personally timed Scott and Brad for a 26m16s time this evening. Killer! I think they would've been even faster if it wasn't for the 6:50pm start which left them doing the entire thing in fading light. So hard to believe how less than a year ago 44 minutes was ridiculously fast, and that's been improved upon by almost 50%. Good times!

Woooo hot doggy!! 26m 16s is ON FIRE!

Shot this last week during a "training lap" in which they still sent faster then about 98% of this routes usual suitors.

It's absolutely mind blowing to see how dialed these guys are, totally inspiring.

Scott and I just set a faster time at 24 minutes and 57 seconds. Stoked!

Just mind boggling. I can't even get to the bottom of pitch 1 sub 25 minutes.

not bad. But I just made minute rice in 47 seconds flat! Boo yah!

Tonight was the second time I got to see this record lowered. I saw the 44 min. Ascent last year and now sub 25 tonight! Awesome, I wonder how close to an unbreakable time these guys are getting? What's the athletic limit? 23 min? Is sub 20 possible by the right athletes?

I think a sub 20 could go down solo but they(honnold) would have to be sprinting the whole time.

Not to be a dick, but I'm about to be a bit of a dick...

After a certain point, what is the point? To do the edge under an hour is a truly incredible feat, to do it under :45 is even more amazing. At what point though does it stop being climbing and it turns into a recital for rehearsed moves. Climbing seems so different than other activities, probably due to it's diversity (in routes, not the color of the people).

I'll add some incredibly impressive example of skill that few people appreciate.

Well shoot, the point WAS to look rad on the internet, shamelessly self-promote, and hopefully get some more free shoes and carabiners....

But now that you've seen right through us, we've lost all our MP cred and the jig is up. Thanks a lot, man....

Now you're getting all offended and shit. Stop that.

Seriously though, are you and Brad so out of challenges in the area that doing the edge faster than I can find my keys is all that's left?

Could you eat 69 hotdogs in the parking lot, do the route in 24 minutes, then get a perfect score on guitar hero on top?

I have zero interest in speed climbing, and find it to be the antithesis of my climbing style.

But these two do have this thing down, that's for sure.

But I am really interested in this mini-Traxion simul climb setup that was alluded to in the article I read.

I've painstakingly and painfully pioneered a new style called light and slow. Basically the same or less gear than a light and fast or speed ascent and all the speed of a triple set of hexes, tied runners, a first aid kit, and boots in the backpack.

You end up on the route all day, without close to enough pro, and no water. It's glorious.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
