Hey ya'll,

Searchin' the web through and through looking for the best rope deals. Anyone come across any 10.1-10.3 60M single ropes or know which sites I should keep my eye on?

Thanks!

You have seen the deals tab at the top of the page right...?

While these may not be the best deals or best ropes out there, here are a few to get you started:

Petzl Xion

Mammut with Bag - Lightly Used

Bluewater Eliminator - Blue 60M

Petzl Mambo - Blue 60M

Any time ;) Speaking of deals C4's are going 25% off labor day weekend at REI, might have seen a rope in the catalog too but I'm not sure

I also like spadout.com for deals on all types of gear, including ropes. i've found it a bit time-consuming to find deals on ropes because often a rope will be listed at some great sale price, but then when you click through, you realize the sale is only for the 50m 12mm, and the 70m 9.8mm is still $$$. haven't really found a good way around this, other than to just keep clicking

Steve,

Rock and Snow will price match on advertised prices you find. Call them or stop in when you pass through New Paltz.
They also usually have -20% storewide on holiday weekends, such as Labor Day,
if you can wait till then.

There are some nice Petzls on there.

Coupon code for 35% off: EB081914A

If that doesn't work, try googling "Sierra retailmenot" to find more deals. They put new ones out regularly.

Ropes are like a commodity, prices fluctuate often and extremely. You might watch a rope for 3 months and settle on 175 being a decent deal, then a week later it's going for $125. Crazy.

I'd avoild petzl ropes. do some searching and QC issues seem to be rampant.

I like Petzl, own a lot of Petzl gear, but their ropes don't seem like the best.

(ok, sit back and wait to be ripped a new one from me general comment) :-0

J. Serpico I think you were absolutely correct in you labeling Petzl ropes as "Do Not Buy" They were not ever really up the standards of the true rope making companies out there and it showed in just about every line of ropes they tried to make.

That is until Edelrid(the inventor of the kermantle rope and the oldest dynamic rope maker still in the game)took over production of their ropes this year. They are creating a whole new line just for Petzl and are lending their expertise and renowned quality control to Petzl's ailing rope line. I have always had amazing experiences with Edelrid and although I have yet to climb on one of their "Petzl ropes" I think it is safe to say they will be a worthy competitor to the big dogs.

This is good news. I've climbed on a few edelrids and had no issues. Generally good ropes.

So let me update in saying, be weary of any old stock Petzl ropes.

The link I shared also had some Edelrid ropes.

Love the links and info! Kirby, those may just be a bit too slim for me. As my first rope I'm looking for 10.0+ since I'll mostly be TR. Correct me if I'm wrong though. I may just wait it out until labor day if the deals are that much better. This is m first season as a climber going into September so I don't have much experience with those deals. Have had my eye on this for $120

For top roping, definitely go 10.2-10.5. And unless you are hiking in or leading at your limit, I'd rather have the long term durability of a 10.2-10.5 over saving a little weight. You can always dedicate the fat rope to top roping and project climbs, and get a more specialized rope that you exclusively lead on.

i have an old bluewater accelerator that i can't seem to bust--relegated to TR only but not because it looks worn out, just cause it's old. 10.5

Jesse, Found that going for $124, thinking about buying. $80 is a steal! Where did you get it from?

exactly why spadout sucks, all their links are out of date, the only thing that website does is waste your time and give you a boner thinking you've got some work-around to 'Google-Shopping-Search'. At least THEFIND is seemingly better...

ANYWAY - BUMPED THIS THREAD

Does anyone know where to get NE (Maxim) Rope Deals, had my eye on the Airliner. Not sure if that model is too new. Basically i'm looking for a dual certified half single. Fat half, skinny single. I know sterling fusion nano is an option, they're pricey too. Pretty much think spending more than $150 for a rope is absurd. (AKA every rope out there if you don't get a deal on it) any help, anyone?

Check out ebay. They can have some good deals on
new ropes too.

Just bought that Mammut this week! They also have the Galaxy 10mm / 60m bipattern for the same 30% off

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
