Hello all! I'm going to be in Alabama from Oct. 8-13th and would love to check this place out. I just started climbing this summer and usually stick with 5.8's and 5.9's. I've not actually bouldered before, so I'm looking for someone who has a little experience with this. Also, expect beginner moves from me! A group or just one person is fine with me. Let me know! -Amanda
I wont be in HP40 then (unfortunately) but I can tell you this.... start training on slopers! And it would be very wise to do some bouldering here in CO before you go. Maybe get up to Flagstaff in Boulder or some of the more local bouldering around Denver. You don't want to spend the first 3 days of your trip just getting comfortable falling onto pads before you can even really "start" climbing.
I can probably meet you for a couple of days. I live really close to HP40 I'd love to get out and climb some with some new people. My names Ryan you can hit me up if you're interested. I've been climbing since about this summer too so were probably right at about the same level.
I can vouch for Ryan...safe and strong. I don't boulder much, but I live 5 minutes from HP40 and climb at Steele a lot. If you want to do some roped climbing or need any information on the area, let me know.
I may head out there this weekend if the weather is good. I'm down for some bouldering at HP or some gear routes at Steele if you are interested. Send me a message if you are still looking for someone to climbing with.
