Shelf Road Dispersed Camping?
|
Does anyone know if there are any dispersed camping options in the Shelf Road vicinity? I'm aware of the spots on the way up to the Bank CG (right next to the signs that say 'do not camp here') but I'm wondering if there's something less objectionable/more legitimate. |

The legal camping at Shelf Road is on BLM land, and it's some the most beautiful and clean camping I've seen...and it's ridiculously cheap. Even dirtbag climbers can afford it. |

Go campsite hunting on google earth. I spotted like 3 areas in 5 minutes. |

My husband and I were there in late fall (and early all) and it was abandoned. Great time of year to go there...or I mean it's terrible don't go!!!!! |

He is a great guy☺ and the yurt is totally worth it! There is also red rock park just down the road from shelf. Even when shelf is packed I can always find a place there. |

Bringing up this old thread. Looking to go climb at Shelf over Memorial Day weekend. I've never been down there. Should I expect to have trouble finding a camp spot at the well-known campgrounds that weekend? |

It will most likely be really hot and not too many people there. But anything memorial day weekend will be a crapshoot. There we several sites open saturday night this weekend. It was almost too hot to climb in the sun on sunday, the thin clouds made it doable. It was only 70 out and we were chasing shade in the afternoon. |
