Last weekend's "Ice Fest", our first attempt, cost at least 150 bucks to get the whole driveway and some parking plowed out for guests. It's wind swept farm area, off a back road that is gravel full of potholes. Nobody making a profit here so far this season. Kinda like the old 'Ice pit' membership where those private members kept the place in shape, plowed lots, and operating for several years.

Fair enough. Have fun!

I have to admit I enjoy the pictures once in a while.

But it ain't A. Constantine's board. If it was me and out-of-towners wanted to make the occasional comment, I'd try to overcome the hardship thereof.

OK, Midwest Ice Climbers: HOW ABOUT A PRIVATE CLINIC AT THE SILO on the ice FOR 6 HRS WITH WILL GADD??!!

Next Sat. March 8 from 9 AM-3 PM we are presenting WILL GADD! Here is what Will says about his speaking:

"I present to small and large audiences all over the world. Sometimes the audience and I are all in suits, sometimes it’s all about pure entertainment. I share my adventures and the lessons I’ve learned while taking risks that many would view as “crazy.” No two presentations are the same; the first thing I do when someone asks me what my presentations are about is ask him or her questions: what’s important, what risk and reward means to them personally and to the group they represent, and why they called me. I then build my presentation to fit their need. Within that are usually some common themes:

Risk and Reward: understanding the most basic equation of every new situation. I offer tools I’ve learned through survival in some incredibly difficult situations.

The positive power of negative thinking: why thinking positive thoughts is nowhere near enough to build real confidence and success. How to turn a great idea into reality.

Motivation: Why will a climber risk his or her life for nothing more than the opportunity to stand in a cold, lonely and dangerous place? Because he wants to. I don’t think people need more motivation, they need passion and desire, they need to want “it.” What is “it?”

The cost will be $125/person. Pizza Lunch is $5. or bring your own...

PLEASE POST UP IF YOU CAN ATTEND SO WE CAN LOCK IN THE PLANS. Limit is 10 so it will fill up fast! A deposit of $50 will be required, payable to Joel at Pay Pal or CC over the phone. 708-341-3255

Location: Frankfort, IL South of Chicago

Thanks to Tony and the CMC for helping arrange this. Will Gadd is speaking that night at the annual CMC meeting so go to that also, if you can.

Will was pretty impressed with this home made ice tower,,met his approval and he heavily suggested to climbers in general that they can hone' their ice skills, technique, screw placement practice, and much more very well on ice like this. Very glad he was able to come out and enjoy a day here. Hope all those MP haters out there can accept his vote of confidence.
Pics attached come from the SouthtownStar article as posted online.

Don't know if MP site has been down for hours, I've not been able to upload this since late last night.
We had a fabulous day of 50's, shorts were again in fashion. Now a big winter storm of up to 8 to 12 inches of snow may come in tonight. So our ice is gonna be there for quite some time yet, well past this coming weekend. Always welcome to come out and enjoy. Morph'n Power ranger climber it seems in the pics attached. Fun times, maybe a left over Mardi Gras sprit yet.

The other page you put them on is the page that was SUPPOSED to be a thread only about the FB Ice Climbing Midwest page(so people know to go to the FB page a link to it, not silo stuff). You started posting silo stuff there awhile back. :)

Superb ice conditions yet, still short sleeve Hawaiian shirt weather,,,and wild overhangs to tackle. Be there tomorrow at 8AM to continue possibly some of our last ice of the season. Keep in touch via MP for any who may have an interest in coming down next weekend IF we have ice left.

Bump reminder,,,,probably last chance to climb good ice is tomorrow...10AM and on. Schedule a time with Juggler and I'll be over there to open up the place. Spring busy coming up, so we will probably not rebuild the ice as it melts off this week. It's still over 4 ft thick in most sections.....so get out on a cool Saturday if you need.
