Looks cold n wet, what're your thoughts on a Diamond route this weekend?
Gracias!

Even if it does warm up I'm pretty sure it's going to be wet.

Well last I saw Longs it had a decent dusting of snow on it. I imagine it hasn't gotten any warmer and probably has speckles of verglas on it. I'm think the Diamond is done for rock this year

Eli at climbinglife posted this on FB today.

Higher elevations >11k in RMNP look to have stayed dry in this recent storm...nobody in our house is complaining about a delay to winter as it's already more than 50% of the year, more than enough.
Unpredictable Weather! An upslope storm from the east has dropped snow in the lower elevations of the park, but the alpine tundra is basking in the sun above the clouds. (Compare and contrast of webcams from Alpine Visitor Center and Glacier Basin campground from this morning!) ch nps.gov/romo/photosmultimed…

Weather inversions.

Hopefully inversions will make all higher altitude climbing nicer, because it's grey and crap down low today.

Normal summer Diamond conditions may be challenging to find. Still, it was fairly clear, dry, and 60+ F above 8200' yesterday while it was cloudy, drippy, and <50 F down below.

Give it a shot, you could likely climb on the Chasm View Wall if the D doesn't look good.

Crapshoot this week, I live in estes, raining for an hour every day

Got on the wall Saturday. Beautiful day, but very limited sun on the East face. North Chimney had snow and ice all over it, had to pitch it out cause simuling was a little sketchy. Two other teams of two and us ascended the whole thing at the same time, six people and five ropes all climbing on top of one another vying for the top. Rock on the Diamond proper ice cold. Nobody made it more than two pitches above Broadway.
Chasm View Wall looked like the place we shoulda been, but we wanted the Diamond. We got nothing, as it were.
Flying Buttress looked like a good sunny option, too

Shoulda been over there looking at the suckers sitting in the shade

The Casual went in good style last Sat! We had the whole wall to ourselves on a windless fall day in the Park. We rapped in from Chasm View in the dark to make the most of the sunshine. The rappels were COLD! Once the sun came up the climbing was nice and the rock was warm enough to be enjoyable. The route was dry and the wall looses sun around noon. Unless Longs was rained on yesterday I think it'll still go!

Long's and Meeker were plastered with fresh snow this morning, all the way down to the base of the Ships' Prow, and in a cloud most of the day.

Kevin, I'm guessing that snow isn't melting off on the N Face quite yet - any chance you can see the cables area?

There is still some scattered snow/ice visible in the cables area, but the warm temperatures and sunshine the past 2 days melted off the plastering I saw from Jurassic Park on Tuesday. Looks like things are going to ice up for good starting this Sunday. The north face of Thatchtop had water running all over the place today.

Awesome, thanks Kevin!

looks super tempting today, the D, and upper kieners.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
