I'm looking to hear about events that your local climbing community has held. Not necessarily volunteer or work related, and not necessarily comptetive events. What kind of other fun things has your community done to celebrate eachother? Maybe you've been part of an event that wasn't climbing related but could be adapted to climbers, like a Splitfest..

Some friends and I were talking about our local climbing community and crags in northwest Montana. As a relative newcomer it feels like while there are a number of climbers and quality routes there isn't a lot of cohesiveness to the community. I have met few climbers beyond my immediate partners while out.

So, i was thinking it would be fun to hold an event to celebrate the community and climbing that we do have here. Hopefully it would be an opportunity to meet new people and to drum up some support for future organized volunteer days.

Of course, If you are reading this and you live in NW Montana, let me know if you would be interested in seeing something like this happen!

There was just a big climbing, camping, and partying meet up in Devil's Head, CO this weekend (Sympathy for the Devil).

They have that Sushi Fest party every year in Vedauwoo, WY, right?

There was a giant climber memorial for Blitzo in JTree, CA when he died of cancer.

I've met climbers through Denver Social Climbers to go watch Reel Rock together.

Thanks for the ideas! I'll look them up. Keep them coming! Or if you want to elaborate on what you like about them I would love to hear it!

At Seneca Rocks for years they've held an annual chili cook off that is always fun to attend.

I appreciate your attitude OP, keep it up!

The American Alpine Club and Action Committee for Eldorado recently hosted the "Eldo Climber's Picnic". Really fun evening, and a great turnout of Eldo-loving climbers.

Index, WA just had its first Index Climbers' Festival. They had a social event, raffle, and slideshow one day, a pancake breakfast and onsight competition the next.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
