Anyone Have Retire'able Cams to Donate for Boy Scout Training in NOVA area?

If anyone in the NOVA area has old cams they're thinking of retiring and would be willing to donate, I'd love to use them as learning aids in Boy Scout National Capitol Area Council training efforts. I'm directing the Boy Scouts climbing program in the area and having the props for working with students would be very appreciated. If they still actuate and you're retiring them for the slings or other reason that'd be ideal.

I'd be happy to meet up around Virginia side (SportRock Alexandria would be ideal) or maybe at the BSA office in Bethesda. Thanks all

This sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen...

Atavist,

I apologize if I wasn't clear and thanks for the interest.

I was interested in PROPS to pass around and play with in a CLASSROOM. Teaching programs will often take retired ropes, cut them and use them for knot tieing practice and that's the line of thinking. The discussion is not about climbing on retired gear.

If folks are concerned about liability - how about making them useless for climbing - e.g. on BD C4's, cut the bottom of the cable loop. They'd still be fine to pass around and practice placing, but not realistically usable for climbing.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
