So November I'm planning on heading down to Ecuador to climb the Volcanoes and maybe do some local rock climbing. From there I was thinking about heading to peru or Chilie. Peru I believe is off season so mainly sightseeing. But Chile should be primes. Torres del Paine and Valle Cochamó. Again open to other ideas these just look awesome. I've climbed up 5.10b trad in squamish and Yosemite. I have done a few on the Cascade volcanoes, Baker, Adams, Shasta. and Have done a bit of High Sierra. I hold an AAIRE Avy 2 cert and current WFR. I also have experience ice climbing WI4 haven't lead yet But could prolly lead WI3 if i had to. Anyways if you want to hook up and climb have advice, or are already down there let me know.
Cheers

Hey, are you who I think you are? We are both friends of Mike C in Nelson? I just joined this site to post for climbing partners in Mexico in December. I'm joining friends in El Potrero around Xmas but before then it's all open and going further south would be an option. Maybe we can do something together? I'm on my way home right now from skitouring in the lakes region. Both Frey near Bariloche and Cochamo look fantastic, but probably too far south for me at the end of this year.

Hey Topher and Cathy,

I'll be flying into Buenos Aires early November 2014 and am hoping to hook up with some climbers at some point during my 8 month trip through South America. I can certainly follow 10's/11a and would consider myself a fairly safe and astute partner. I've followed WI3, but was hoping to find more of a rock partner for some of the awesome rock climbing in SA. Sport climbing I can confidently lead 10's. Trad, I'll lead 5.7/5.8, but would make a good second if attempting some harder routes. Let me know, would love to meet up with you.

Also, if you're interested in doing any hiking/camping in the Patagonia region. I'd be down.

Hey all,

I have plans to climb in Chile and Argentina between mid October and early January. I spent some time in Cochamó last season and can share some beta if you like. For this trip, I am thinking of focusing on Pucón and Bariloche, especially Frey, and am looking for partners. I'm open to other destinations as well, such as Mendoza, or anywhere else that has good rock and fun climbing...

I will have a full trad rack with me, as well as mountaineering and trekking gear. I lead up to 10- trad, am also happy to climb easier routes or to follow harder pitches.

I've got a thread going in the MP international climbing forum -- check it out for more info and to connect with a few other climbers who also have plans to be in the area in Nov and Dec. You can reply here or shoot an email to zarmot at yahoo.

Cheers,

Mike

I'll be flying into bariloche October 13th. I realize the snow will likely keep me away from alpine rock for at least a few weeks. But there is cragging nearby. I'll be there and in the Patagonia region until March. Let me know if you need a partner!

Not sure if you know this already, but to climb the volcanoes in Ecuador, the government requires a certified guide. I was down there in January 2013 and that was the policy back then. If it is still the policy, I recommend Gulliver Expeditions based in Mariscal District in Quito. The website is gulliver.com.ec/. Best of luck down there. I had a blast in Ecuador.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
