Opening of AAC/MP Gunks Campground

Don't see anything posted here or on AAC site yet - last I heard they were shooting to open the new campground late August or early September. Does anyone have any recent update info? Are policies for fees, reservations, etc in place yet?

Drove by Wednesday 9/3/14 and it was as Gunks Jesse said.

At the Front Range Section picnic last night, I think they said spring for the Gunks campground opening. I'm sure you could email the AAC and ask the status.

I sure doesn't look as if it will be open this Fall, but I have no expertise in judging construction progress. And the application deadline for the manager position was September 1, presumably that process will take some time, and there is an assistant manager to be hired as well. I'd guess an opening early next Spring, or maybe some limited availability over the winter if the Fall weather cooperates with construction, is the most likely bet.

Thanks. What a disappointment though as the campground has LLLllllong been anticipated....I will check with the folks at AAC to get an official answer and will post back.

Here is the word from the New York Region Chair of the AAC:

"It's still not finished and the AAC is not taking it over from the State contractors until it is complete and the project has been signed off.. Exactly when I cant say, but most likely in the Spring of 2015"
