Are there any deep water solo spots in Northern Cali? ( or any other funky places )
Having recently visited Panther Beach and almost been washed off into the sea by a rogue wave, it got me thinking about maybe there are some safer spots to partake in this type of "adventure climbing"? |
Joan...be careful out there. That's how Michael Reardon met his untimely end. ALWAYS KEEP A WARY EYE ON THE SEA. |

There is a lake just past the Hulk that has a lot of potential. Maybe you and I could do a romantic weekend one weekend and hold hands maybe? |
Yes I read about it...did not quite believe it until got lifted off the rock by a wave and slammed into the sand tumbling. Luckily my boyfriend was watching and dragged me out. The rip current would have taken me for sure. I was instantly loaded with at least 5 pounds of sand btw...and still try to dig some of it out of my scalp. The beach was really cool though. Sandstone barefoot bouldering with landing on sand ( although some of it is quite ledgy so you can still get hurt if fall a certain way) was something new! Of course I am not going close to the surf anymore. Looking for swimming hole kind of environment to free water solo. |

Oh my Climbz.... First, some gay friends of mine got married last night !!! What's your problem with Joan's boyfriend? What's your problem with "gay"? Oh wait. Joan's boyfriend and my gay friends are getting laid... Unlinke you Climbz... |
I would prefer you not use antiquated vernacular to improperly describe something. Funny that you use acronyms to abbreviate words like girl friend and by the way. Your use of the word gay to insult a seemingly heterosexual male and than following with the question should you use the term homosexual instead? How about neither. Read a book( maybe sleep with a dictionary and pray you learn by osmosis). Go on trolling. |

I respect gay people and that's why I use the word "ghey" to describe something "opposite of cool". Spending some time with gay people and getting to know them on a personal level, Climz, may make you a better person. I am certain to say their lives have a lot of sadness in them. I took care of a young gay man with AIDS who was dying in a hospital and his partner had to sneak in to see him (us nurses let him in). Because the young dying gay man's family kicked him out. That was before gay marriage... Hey, you may remember Princess Diana. She thought gays deserved respect. What do you know... BTW if your girlfriend is hot why do you wanna hold hands with an Internet troll? What if she was not hot? Do you think that would change anything? Find something better to say. If you said " my GF is ugly" people may understand more why you wanna be "romantic" with a stranger who you never even met and who is probably twice your age. Hehehe. Anyway, hope you get my point. |

It kinda goes without saying but there are many over-the-water soloing spots in the Sierra. This one is at Cascade Lake near Saddlebag lake outside of Tuolumne... |
^^^THAT! Would be really sweet! Is the water cold? Is it easy to find? I was really looking for some ocean cave areas though that were climbable and protected enough from the surf. |
yea the water was cold , and full of fish there too . I bet it warms up a tad in the late season , but its always refreshing . You can see this little wall on google earth maps , I can drop a pin if anyone is interested . The traverse is maybe 30 ft. long and V2 - V3 . It's a perfect little detour if on your way up to North Peak ... maybe 45 minutes walk from saddlebag CG . |
From the looks of it there are no roads that lead to Cascade lake on the map. There is a resort at Saddleback lake though. Is that a long hike and what else is out there? |

Dear Joan, |
There looks to be a small but decent DWS spot near the dam at lake berryessa, on the north side, but its are pretty close to the dam itself, not sure how you would get over there. |
Ben, why don't you have your wife or sister hook up with Climb instead? He seems to be desperate enough. |
