I plan to hitch a ride with a friend to Fort Collins this Monday and spend some time exploring the states climbing. Some time meaning however long things are working out for me, no less than a month, maybe more than a few. What I'm curious about is where are the best areas that I can camp and climb at for extended periods of time without to much difficulty, and the don't misses. Cheap/Free sites…? I won't have a car but am no stranger to public transportation, hitchhiking, and slow movement. I will also be traveling alone so places with a friendly community and some traffic so I can partner up would be great. Since theres so much out there ill say long exposed moderate trad routes are my favorite, but also really enjoy harder sport climbing, Ill boulder but won't have a pad and prefer rope climbing.

Any questions welcome. Cheers and thanks for any info

Station yourself in Maple or Rifle or Ten Sleep and you'll have no problem climbing as many days as you like

I would recommend making your way out to Indian Creek given your position. It would be a great place to camp for free, relatively close to food and supplies. Also a great social area to meet people. It will still be hot there in August but by late september should be pretty tolerable. Until then climbing in Colorado: Rifle, Shelf road, Independence Pass, the Black Canyon, all has great camping.
