Mt. Whitney East Face: Looking for Partner Late Sep-Early Oct
|
Looking to Climb the East Face of Mt. Whitney sometime between September 24th and October 5th. I'm seeking a Competent, efficient partner who is no stranger to Grade III Alpine climbs. You should be an experienced Trad climber who is reasonably in shape. The route is 5.7 Grade III, 10 Pitches. I'm not really willing to teach someone basic skills on this climb. |

vincent L. wrote:"The route is 5.7 Grade III, 10 Pitches" You mean the east buttress of Whitney? There's no way the east face is 5.7... Maybe 5.4 at most , E. Butt is about 5.7 .... I'd do the east buttress twice before the east face , just one mans opinion . If you are overnighting up there than you could tick both... Good luck with your search, beautiful area up there.C'mon, Vincent. You don't need to quibble about the rating. MP has the East Face at 5.6, with a consensus of 5.7. Thirty people on MP rated it either 6 or 7. Edit: The East Face is a great climb, as is the East Butt. |

Sorry! Didn't mean to quibble, I really thought it was known as 5.4 ... |

I will join you, can we do it in a day and leave the ropes and rack at the car. I am not kidding BTW. |

Yeah, I'm probably going to want to rope up for a lot of it. I'm planning on rocking a light rack and an 8.7 serenity. It doesn't weigh all that much considering it's function. Thanks for the offer though. |
