Seems like these are exactly the same biners but rebranded by either Cypher or Trango.

What's the deal with cypher anyway? Are they shady like ClimbX or are they legit? I have always thought they were European but they have a Utah address.

Are the biners Trango's or Cyphers designs? Or joint venture?

Some of these companies share production facilities and designs

For example the grand wall papoose biner is the same as the metolius mini ... Theyre made in the same taiwan factory ... You can compare the two side by side and its identical

This happens quite a bit for the smaller brands out there

If you want unique carabiner designs that are made in house in a first world country buy DMM ... Of course you pay for it

They are made by Trango Co Ltd, 587-11. Anaji-ro, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, Korea. They´ll put any name you want on them. (Those particular karabiners are made in Taiwan).
if you want to see who makes most of the generic stuff on the market you look at companies like Kouba, Trango (Korea), King Snaps, CIC,Hephaestus and so on.

That's interesting. Who actually designed the carabiners then? Is it the outsourced firm (either Korean or Taiwanese) or do they just manufacture the biners but the design came from somewhere in the Western world? (Like Apple's designed in California, made in China thing.)

Trango is Korean? Didn't know that.

I know nothing of the corporate entaglement of Trango Co (Korea)and Greater Trango Holdings (USA).
The much larger and older outdoor company, Trangoworld from Spain has no connection so far as I know.

Many "manufacturers" do not make their own carabiners. For example, some of Petzl's carabiners are made by Rock Exoticia. Rock Exoticia actually makes carabiners for a number of other companies, and other companies make some of Rock Exoticas's products. The term "manufacturer" is used so loosely these days and virtually no manufacturer actually manufacturers their entire product line. Some companies dont even design some of their own gear, they just buy other designs and put their sticker on it such as the case with the carabiner in the OP's post.

I was on a kick, (still am) to buy as much climbing gear made in USA., misty mountain, metulious, rock exotica, Omega Pacific etc...
I contacted Trango a while back and know they make most soft goods, slings etc in Utah. Most their hardware is made in S Korea. If I remember correctly, they engineer and test the gear in Utah. Their packs and clothing are made in Vietnam.
Cypher gear is made at different locations. It appears a lot is made by other companies but I don't know for sure. Their Hueco Nuts look identical to Omega Pacific Wedies I have. I know OP made them for ABC. I bought a few on Sierra Trading Post and they came in OP packaging and are identical (made in USA sticker and all).

From Cypher;
Cypher is produced in a variety of locations worldwide. In general the following types of equipment are manufactured in the following locations:

Shoes - Korea
Huevos - USA
Slings - Czech Republic
Carabiners - Taiwan or Italy
Webbing - USA
Accessory Cord - USA

If there are specific items you would like to know about please ask. I'd be happy to look that information up for you.

All the best,
Quinn

Trango Phase Quickdraw $14.95
Cypher Ceres Quickdraw $10.95

Anyone know why the big price difference?

Its possible that trango does their own in house testing and QC like metolius claims to do with their taiwan biners

Other than that ... Marketing and the fact that folks will pay more for a "brand name"

Trango is betting you will pay $15, Cypher is betting you wont. That probably sums it up.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
