Rand peeling from uppers. Glue?

My 5.10 moccs are about 3 months old. They're doing well but as I have wide feet I'm starting to see some peeling of the rand from the uppers across the widest section of the shoes.

Should I glue them before they separate further? If so any suggestions on what to use and where to get it?

Barge Cement or Weldwood Contact Cement.

Apply a thin coat to both surfaces. Allow to dry. Gently heat over an electric stove burner. Press together and hold until cool.

Thank you. I'm guessing I can get either at a hardware store?

...and repeat. I have pairs of 5.10 shoes that the rand has peeled away from many times. I've repaired them as described here (without the heat) and the repair lasts a couple of trips.

When I sent a couple of pairs of Spires to Rock n Resole for resoling, they did a very nice job of re-attaching the rands on all four shoes, and the repair lasted about 8 climbing trips probably. That's probably twice as long as they originally remained adhered when new.

Perhaps Adidas could lend 5.10 some glue that sticks. They must devote all their time to making sticky rubber at the sacrifice of figuring out sticky glue...their shoes just fall apart like that.

Anymore, I just leave the rands peeled away. Doesn't hurt anything...but gravel tends to collect in there.

Yes. Home depot. Lowes. Most Mom & Pop hardware stores.
The 5.10 Resole kit came with a tube of Barge Cement. Same as Weldwood.

Barge cement aint what it was in the old days....

ask Locker...

Do you keep your shoes in the hot trunk of your car?????

And im pretty sure 5.10 are designed to do that, try a quality brand next time.

Guy, I keep my shoes in a cool closet when not on my feet. 5.10s fit me very well. What other brand would you suggest?

That's true to some degree, especially here in California, as more often than not you will see the newer blue tubes (toluene-free version).

Mathias.... just joking around, I never miss taking a shot at Charles.... and the dude sold his place for millions!!!!! ( we are old old friends)

I always say if the shoe fits use it.

and the car trunk thing is something I learned about after a summer trip to AZ......

C Miller ..... you you want to sell the old tube of glue????

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
