Climbing in Colombia or Venezuela

I'm taking online classes this fall and am looking for an international climbing destination with internet access. Tickets are cheap to Colombia and Venezuela, which is the primary attraction to these places. But what is the internet access like here in proximity to climbing? If possible I might try to pick up a part time job teaching english or any other job if available. Any thoughts or opinions appreciated. Or other ideas for destination with a cheaper plane ticket?

Those aren't places that come to mind when thinking about easy Internet access. I'm sure there are places though.

What about El Potrero Chico, Thailand, China? Why not somewhere in the US?

El Potrero definitely an option. I've been to Thailand and China but there is a lot more I want to see, especially Li Ming, China. Do you have any experience in that area?

No unfortunately I didn't make it up there. Could tell you a lot about rural Thailand and Malaysia, but the first thing I'd say is that there isn't much Internet.

Cantabaco in the Philipines comes to mind.

I spent some time in Colombia over the winter. The internet in Suesca is pretty shoddy. It would always go down just when I needed it.

I ended up buying a 3g plan for my phone. It was very reliable and never went down on me. I took all my classes on it.

Thanks for the input. Was the Internet any better in nearby towns that were bigger? I may try to teach English in a place like tunja. Do you think I would get more reliable Internet there? Sounds like a pain in the ass doing classes on your phone, but if I have to so be it!

It depends where you go in Suesca. If you are down by the lower strip it's pretty bad but if you go up into the actual town it's usually very reliable.

Just don't go when the kids are off school as they like to game online.

Tunja is a larger town and will have even better internet.

I've spent a lot of time all over Colombia and internet is usually pretty unreliable, I have never been to Suesca though.

Even my girlfriends dad's wifi in Cali would be crappy half the time, and he's got the best most likely...probably does depend on how many users there are around you though.
