I'm considering a 3 month assignment in Dallas. Is there any good climbing nearby, preferably trad.

Depends on your definition of "good". 45 mins West of Dallas/Ft.W is Mineral Wells, all TR. North into Oklahoma is some sport and trad stuff on Quartz Mtn and the Wildlife Refuge. SW a few hours in Austin is the greenbelt (in the city), Reimers (on the SW side), and Georgetown (on the N side), all are sport. A long days drive West gets you to Hueco Tanks in El Paso. And some go NE into Arkansas. You will find more info for these climbing areas on the mountainproject home page. I think the longest at any of these spots is a few pitches.

Christopher,
Wow, thanks! I like the enthusiasm for local areas. I love our local, albeit not world class crags in TN. I'll be in the area 9.22 working at North Hills hospital. I thank you for your offer and I'll take you up on it. This is my first travel assignment and need local connections.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
