Hey all,
Just wanted to pass on that the water and bathrooms (parking lot only) are on/open at foster falls. The car camping area is still closed however.
There is a new rv camper set up where the old manager's house was before the fire.
Cheers,
S

I visited Foster Falls this past weekend (8/9/14). The drive in camping area was open with a fee sign. I also saw the new park ranger trailer and that the bathrooms were open and the awful porta johns were gone.

I might be heading to Foster Falls for the first time this weekend. From the information I've seen it's a bit confusing whether the campground is still closed or not. Where would you guys recommend camping?

i camped there about a month ago in the drive in camping. it should all be open unless the temporary caretaker has left. even if the drive in camping is not open there is another campground at fosters that is walk in (.5 mile).

if you do camp in the drive in area make sure to camp as close to the waterfall side as possible. the other side of the campground backs up to someone's property who has a rooster. that thing cranks up at about 2 am and doesn't stop crowing. bring ear plugs.

I think it is worth hiking in .5 miles to the Father Adams campground. It is free and if I remember correctly, the car camping area is fairly pricey for the convenience. Remember that while camping in the Father Adams area you are subject to state park regulations. The car camping area is managed by the TVA which is under federal regulations. State park laws prohibit the possession of any amounts of alcohol, while federal laws allow. Stay classy San Diego.

I was hoping to car camp this weekend at the TVA campsite at Foster Falls. Does anyone know if its open for car camping right now? Are the bathrooms in operation. Tried calling TVA but could not get anyone on the phone. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Scott,
I was out there about 1 month ago and everything was open and turned on. I have not heard any news that would indicate that the campsite would be closed again.

Cheers,
Sharyl

I have camped at the TVA car camping sites at Foster Falls twice in the past 5 weeks. Just got back from a perfect friction weekend :-)

The car camping sites are currently available and free. The showers and restrooms are not in operation. There is no water there.

There is water at the pavilion. The bathrooms at the parking lot/pavilion are open.

Father Adamz is about 800 yards from the pavilion. The car camping sites are about 200 yards.

According to the TVA attendant, he will be leaving at the end of the month. The car camping lot gate will be closed for the winter starting on Oct 31, 2014.

According to a notice from TVA that I read posted at the pavilion, you may still walk in and camp there, even when the gate is closed. Please take your trash with you.
They are looking for a concessionaire for next year.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
