Moving to Bishop and I have questions, help!

Hey there,
I'm a Kentucky native looking into moving to Bishop for the winter months. Trying to pick people's brains on camping, how to find safe climbing partners, how many crash pads would be advised to bring, best spots to apply for a job, what the winter climbing community will be like (friendly vs. closed off), things of that nature. These are the questions that I haven't been able to find answers to, haven't bought a guide book yet. Its gonna be my pup and I preferably living out of my truck. Any help or guidance is appreciated. Bishop locals tend to be quite friendly, after you meet them a few times (we meet a LOT of people). Most all of the climbers here take safety seriously. The first place to look for a job would be black sheep coffee. Camping at the pit is $2 a night, at the buttermilks it's free but a little colder. If you have 2 pads you should be good, on the weekends 1 pad will do thanks to the masses of people around.

Are you just planning to boulder, or are you going to take advantage of the Owens river gorge?

Thanks for the help, y'all! It would be silly not to take advantage of all the awesome climbing around bishop, so I think I'll be visiting the ORG on top of bouldering. I will most definitely be camping, do you think it would be too cold for a short haired breed of dog?

So glad to hear the community is friendly and safe! Traveling by myself somewhere new is difficult enough, but having zero climbing partners would be awful. I'll give black sheep a call and google more local businesses.

When does the community typically get flooded with climbers? I'd hate to get here and be unable to find a job because of a saturated market.

How often do you all frequent the area? Locals?

I live 245 miles away..... Ventura County, and I go to Bishop about 2-3 times/mo.

It takes 4.5 hrs.

Short hair is best on dogs, cause it is hot mostly.

Lots/tons/unlimited climbing of all flavors.
