New Feature: Season Charts
As announced here , Area pages now have Season Charts on them that let you when the best (most popular) times to climb. |
Is 'best' the same as 'most popular'? Discuss. |
It is based on tick data, so it represents when people are climbing the most. This means are exceptions to "best" being the same as "most popular", if we could all agree what "best" means... For example, there is a huge spike in Joshua Tree in March which has more to do with spring break than it being "better" than February. But for the most part, these charts are very good indicators of the "best" time to climb, if you take best to mean moderate temps, sun exposure, and precipitation. |

Ah. So 'best' really means 'best time to encounter college students enamored of the 'tick' feature.' |

I like it. It looks like for small subareas, often the data is from a larger area higher in the hierarchy. this makes sense. I think it would be useful to have a label somewhere that states what area the data is coming from. |
