Just looks like a dumb, well rehearsed routine to me. Don't see how memorizing one highly unlikly situation makes for a "rope rescue competition"... Even if it was badass how fast they went

Wild. I dont think I could put on a real harness in the time it takes them to make one out of cord.

For climbing I'd like to see the same thing done for anchor set-up and belay turnover.

That'd be amazing. I'd love to see an event for not swinging leads. I'd love to see what coupl...I mean, what the teams could do.

I feel like I'm a snail even swinging leads. Those firefighters(I think) are pretty badass, and they make me feel even slower.

That was very impressive!

It reminded me of watching a calf rope competition at a rodeo. Those guys were swinging and slinging that cord and rope like they were tying off three legs and raising their hands.

One wrong clip or missed tie off, going that quick... Ouch! Now you have two possible casualties stuck in a toxic environment, or whatnot.

I will have to agree that I would like to see a rock climbers competition. Make multiple categories and an all-around.

I say that JVB takes up the cause to figure this all out and get back to us on rules, etc. :)

I can't figure out the point of the ankle ropes.

Confined space rescue protocol.
If you send a man in to rescue another person in a confined space such as a utilities tunnel, and the rescuer becomes unconscious, pulling them out by the ankles will lessen the chance of them getting stuck from doubling over.

....or somethin :)

I'd be leary of DIMERSAR classes. I signed up for a Jan-Jun class this year. By Oct it was pretty clear that the course was some kind of scam with no known ending. I tried getting my money back and got a threatening email directly from Gary Foo. Guess that means they will simply keep my $500 bucks and provide nothing for me. I'll be sure to warn everyone I know about DIMERSAR.

The videos on they produce are useful though. That Japan Rope Rescue almost looks speeded up. Some talent there!
