Bishop & Sierra with a dog

I will be in the Sierra (based out of Bishop) for the next month or so, and part of that time will have a small (7 lbs), very well-behaved, and super-cute dog with me.

Does Bishop tend to be dog-friendly? Is there anyone out there that would dog-sit for me (for a fee of course) for a day or three when I go out to do big routes? Or maybe you know someone that would be amenable to such a thing?

Thanks a bunch for any help that anyone could provide!

Thanks Frank! However I had already come across that link in my research, and the one located in Bishop is closed for another week or 2, so I was hoping to find someone in the area that would be amenable to such a thing. I would be happy to pay for it. The days I need most are this Thursday evening (the 14th) through Saturday (the 16th) evening.

Also I still wonder about how dog-friendly Bishop is.

Most of the Eastside is dog friendly as long as your dog is friendly...

The valley is hot at the moment so best to get to the higher crags (pine creek / mammoth area). I'm not sure about Bishop but Mammoth has a number of pet sitters and is really dog friendly.

While it is tempting to go out and do bigger routes, consider hanging in with your pooch and enjoying some of the amazing bouldering and cragging that we have here.

Also take care to avoid areas with rattlers. Typically above 8000' in the Mammoth area you should be safe.

I spent two months there last Summer with my dog and had nothing but good experiences.

I don't know the name of the place, but in Round Valley there's a lady with a huge gated front yard that runs a kennel. Grass, a creek running through, it's the best looking dog kennel I've ever seen and the lady understands dogs. With that said, I never left my dog there but always had it as an option. I can't remember her prices.

Drive up and check it out.

Take 395 north out of Bishop
Exit west onto Pine Creek Rd. (in Round Valley)
Right on N Round Valley Rd.
You'll see the house/yard at the end on the left, at the intersection of Birchim Ln.

You can also ask around at the dog park that's in town.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
