Tips and Tricks for climbing

I've been thinking about tricks that make climbs or days out climbing go smoother or help out.
Here is one that I have been doing for awhile, realize that I start and end in the dark quite a bit.
I use reflective tape to mark my gear and the ends of my rope. You can get about 20 colors of tape from any graphics or sign shop. A lot of these places have waste bins that they will give you or you can purchase for super cheap. Early in the morning it is great to have tape wrapped around the ends of the rope so that when you shine your headlamp on the rope the ends jump out. I also take a small piece of clear shink tube and cover the tape to keep it in place. You can get so many colors that it makes a great way to mark your gear. On the same note when I finish a climb in the dark I can sweep the ground with the beam of my head lamp and any stray gear jumps out at me because the reflective tape reflects back the light. It makes picking up gear really easy.
That's my first tip. What do others do with tips and tricks for climbing ?

If I'm about to rap and trees are present at the base, I only wrap up about 8-10 coils before I throw the rope. Then it hits the cliff right below me and I let the rope out till its tight on the anchor. Then it doesn't hang up in trees, but sometimes the 1st rapper has to throw it down to the next ledge.
(too obvious?)
