Anyone do them? Working on my first Ironman right now. Good stuff. And I thought the approaches to backcountry routes in Red Rocks were long. I had no idea what long was....
Hell yeah dude! Good for you. I think triathlons are so much fun and super beneficial for the individual. I used to partake in and train for them when I lived in Hawaii. I never experienced Ironman distance however; sprint, olympic and half-ironman were what Ive experienced. Once I moved away from the crystal clear, warm waters to the East Coast on the mainland I stopped.
Your Ironman in Hawaii? I did an olympic distance on the North Shore of Oahu once and the first leg of the swim, before a turn, a large sea turtle cruised directly under me for 100+ yards! It was maybe 10 ft below me and one of the coolest experiences.
practice your transitions! Good luck dude, it'll be totally worth it when you finish.

Yea, I am going to try my first full IM in Hawaii. They host the IM world finals here, so I'll try that course. I hear it's brutal and one of the hardest IM tracks in the world. All the better for an IM first-timer, right? I've done a few Olympic triathlons so far, and I am doing a half shortly. They are really fun and really challenging. Hawaii is one of the best places to do them since we can train 365.
