Looks like the only difference is I have a biner with a brake bar attached to the backpack so that the rope can't run freely (thereby ensuring the eddy locks)

I just tried rappelling with it alone and I didn't find it difficult, in case someone is interested in this. I did had to keep that hand tight on the rope, and to rappel quite quickly, indeed. But it also wasn't that hard and it was also feasible without any other trick. At least, with a 10.2mm rope.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
