Does anyone know of any backcountry climbing areas in New England?

By that i just mean an area that you would have to camp near the base of the climbing and spend all day hiking to get in there.

Thanks

Wallface ( mountainproject.com/v/wallf…) might qualify. Though climbing there would be doable in just a day trip.

It's hard to find true backcountry climbing (ie where you really need to camp) but cliffs in the Pemi (Green's, Owl's, and maybe especially The Captain) fit the bill. Also, if you can get by the bureaucracy, climbs on Katahdin and the Tabor Wall in Baxter.

Don't know much about the Adirondack but there is probably stuff there too (like maybe Wallface).

Stairs can be more of a day trip, but the camping site is sweet. The Captain is a day trip if you have done the approach before..(i camped out there 90% of the time)

There are plenty of places you can backpack into and camp in the Adirondacks, but not many you need to.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
